| The Academic Senate is the primary voice of faculty in academic and professional matters at Long Beach City College. According to California state law, the College Board of Trustees and/or its designee must rely primarily upon the Academic Senate or consult collegially with it when developing policies related to academic and professional matters. |

Representation

| Academic Senators are elected by faculty-at-large from their respective campus for three-year terms. All Long Beach City College faculty enjoy the right to attend and address meetings of the Academic Senate and to be full voting members of the Senate's standing committees. |
