Communicating with Students and/or Your Introductory E-Mail to Students

Whether your class is online, hybrid, blended or face-to-face, when communicating with students:

1) specify WHICH LMS you are using, and
2) include the correct link, so that students know exactly where to go, OR
3) provided the link to the Distance Learning page, where both links are shown.

Include info about the Online Learning Student HelpLine, so that students know they can call us for technical help. 562-938-4818.
Include info about the
24/7 Support for Canvas:

Don't Forget to Make Your Course Available to Students

It is essential that you make your course site available to students .
The courses (by default) are set to be hidden from students until YOU make them available to students.

Make your Moodle Course Visible:

Publishing Canvas Course Sites:
Your Online Syllabus and / or Syllabus File

We strongly recommend that you provide a PDF version of your syllabus to your students (rather than MS Word) and that you include a PDF even if you are using the online Syllabus tool in Canvas.
Naming Downloadable Files

When you provide files to students through the LMS (PDFs, etc.), do not use spaces or any other characters in the file name. Students may have trouble accessing these files.
An example:
rather than Study  Guide_1.pdf
