Apply for a Direct Loan
Financial Aid

What You Must Know First
  1. You must submit a FAFSA and have a completed financial aid file before we can award you a loan. Make sure you don't have any "Financial Aid To Do's" in your Student Center.

  2. Completed requests for loans are processed in the order in which they are received. A completed request for a loan means you have completed all of the steps below. This includes entrance counseling even if you completed it for a previous loan. If the web site tells you that you have completed it in the past, select continue.

  3. Like all financial aid programs you must be making satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for a loan. If you have been suspended from financial aid, you aren't eligible for a loan. If you submit an application, it will be shredded and you will need to resubmit it should you be reinstated.

  4. You must be enrolled in at least 6 units. We may award you a loan but if you aren't enrolled and attending ½ time it won't disburse.

  5. Student loans are disbursed after school starts. See "How We Disburse Financial Aid" for details.

  6. Be familiar with the Direct Loan program before you apply. All loans must be repaid. See "Direct Loans".

Apply

WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING DIRECT LOAN APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR.

DIRECT LOAN APPLICATIONS FOR 2013-2014 WILL BE AVAILABLE JULY 1, 2013.

THANK YOU.

Entrance Counseling (See #2 above)
Master Promissory Note
Exit Counseling (required in December to receive your 2nd disbursement)

To discourage excessive borrowing LBCC has a suggested loan limit of $20,000. To exceed that limit, a Loan Appeal Request Form is also required. This includes any loans awarded by other schools.

To apply for an Additional Unsubsidized Loan you must first complete all of the steps above. After completing these steps see a Financial Aid Specialist for the special application.
