Professor Rigo Ibarra was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. He received his BA in Spanish and Linguistics with honors, his MA. and his Candidate in  Philosophy. in Romance Linguistics and Literatures with high honors from UCLA with a major in Spanish and a minor in Italian, French and Portuguese. He has taught at UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, El Camino College and California State University Long Beach. He has traveled extensively through out Latin America and Europe and has led study abroad programs to Guadalajara, Mexico and Madrid, Spain. He is currently a member of the Study Abroad Committee, the Student Grade Committee, the Long Beach City College Academic Senate and the New Faculty Mentor Program.  Professor Ibarra was named LBCC's Best Instructor of 2006 and was a runner-up in 2010. In addition, Mr. Ibarra is the current Department Head of the Foreign Languages Department.
