Tentative Payment Schedule
First Payment -- $300 dollars due with registration by December 1, 2014.
* Second Payment -- $1,500 plus $95 application fee due by February 1, 2015.
* Third Payment -- $1,190 plus $75 mandatory comprehensive insurance due by March 31, 2015.


PRICE INCLUDES:2006 Study Abroad group

  • Airport transfer, pick up and drop off from Barajas airport in Madrid to Salamanca
  • Accommodation in SALAMANCA with Spanish families or in residence halls
  • Three meals per day, 7 days per week, plus a weekly laundry service (additional washes may be arranged with the homestay family for an extra cost).
  • An orientation program in SALAMANCA consisting of an orientation meeting with a T&E representative, local area information, and a walking tour of SALAMANCA.
  • Reception and Farewell dinners.
  • Spanish language immersion courses at an accredited T&E language and culture institute: TBA. Four (4) hours of immersion daily, 5 days a week (M-F) from 9am to 1pm. Level of proficiency and courses to be determined upon completion of on-site placement test. All course materials included and tutoring if necessary.
  • Social and cultural program including events such as visits to local museums, tapas tours, Mediterranean style cooking classes, flamenco dance lessons, walking visits to local places of interest, lectures on Spanish culture, art and/or literature, viewing of Spanish films, etc…at the request of the chaperone, whenever possible, the events and conferences will be conducted in English. 
  • Excursions will be included to historically significant cities. Students will be transported by bus and visit will include city tour guides in English or Spanish and entrances to important monuments. Among the excursion options are SEGOVIA / AVILA and MADRID.
  • 4 wk program with two (2) full day excursions
  • Unlimited access to computer lab with free email, printing and internet facilities.
  • Medical and accident insurance coverage in Spain during the duration of the program.
  • Local T&E office staff available during regular office hours in Spain (9am-2pm and 5pm-8pm).


  • EARLY-BIRD DISCOUNTS: A 5% discount applies to participants paying in full by February 1st of the program term (for short term programs only).
  • Mobile phones provided for each student before departure which includes a local Spanish cell number and FREE incoming calls.
  • Comprehensive Study Abroad Insurance Coverage: Accident and Sickness, Trip cancellation and interruption, Baggage/Personal effects, Dental, Emergency Medical Reunion, Accidental death and dismemberment, Mobile App/24 hour assist, Compassionate visit, Chaperone/Faculty Replacement. ($75)
  • US Embassy registration for each student for the program period
  • Accounting / billing services in the U.S.
  • Pre-departure information services and a TOLL-FREE contact number in the U.S.
  • 24 hour contact number for emergency or for after-hours support for participants in programs outside the EST time zone.

  • Mandatory comprehensive insurance coverage: $20 per week ($75 for 4 weeks.)
  • Mandatory $125 refundable damage deposit to be collected from each student and returned to each individual student by T&E Philadelphia office upon completion of program if no damages are reported.

  • Meals other than those indicated on itinerary.
  • Personal expenses.
  • Additional field trips that have not been specified.
  • Usage and upgrades on provided mobile phones.

Day 1 - Depart from the United States

Day 2 - Madrid, SpainWelcome dinner
Arrive in Madrid in the morning. Meet our T&E representative and transfer to Salamanca. Welcome meeting with dinner this evening.

Orientation meeting with a T & E representative, local area information, and a walking tour of Salamanca.

Day 4 - Day 27
In Salamanca, you will have four weeks of Spanish instruction, Monday through Friday from 9 to 1 pm. Classes will be held at the Unamuno Institute which is affiliated with the University of Salamanca.

Classroom instruction will be enhanced by social and cultural acivities in the afternoons. Two full day excursions on weekends will be conducted to Madrid, Segovia and Avila.

Professor Ingrid Wollank
Prof. Ingrid Wollank

The Salamanca Study Abroad Program will be conducted by Professor Ingrid Wollank, professor of Spanish and German at Long Beach City College. Professor Wollank grew up in southern Germany and Spain. She studied history and literature at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and holds the equivalent of an MA degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

Professor Wollank came to the U.S. as a post-graduate Fulbright scholar to study pre-Columbian art history at the University of Texas in Austin. She also earned an MA degree in Spanish from the University of California, Irvine, where she also completed graduate work in German. Professor Wollank has been a full-time professor at LBCC for 20 years, although her teaching career spans more than twenty five years in the U.S. and abroad. In the past, she has conducted successful study abroad programs in Salzburg, Austria, Madrid, Spain, and Berlin, Germany in addition to guiding tours through Spain and Portugal. She is an experienced traveler and spends almost every summer in Europe. Profesor Wollank is also affiliated with The Roland Hoppe Foundation which grants generous scholarships to German students for summer travel to Berlin.
