Come and join the Spanish Club!

Spanish Club Group

The Long Beach City College Spanish Club is dedicated to participating in cultural activities relating to the Spanish-speaking world, to providing leadership opportunities to students, and to volunteering in the community. We meet on Tuesday from 1:45-2:15pm in Room TBA, which is located behind the cafeteria and between building E and building F. Students are informed via email when meetings are called.

Spanish Club Award Recognitions

Fall 2015 Spanish Club Awards award plaque
In recognition of the LBCC Spanish Club’s Noche de Lotería fundraiser hosted on Thursday, October 22, 2015, the Spanish Club won the award for Best Cultural Event for Spring 2015. Also, in recognition of its events, fundraisers, and service to the community, the Spanish Club won the awards for Most Active Club and Best Cultural Event hosted by CLA (The Coalition for Latino Advancement) and sponsored by Cultural Affairs. In addition, the Spanish club advisor also won the award of Best Club Advisor. The Spanish Club sends heartfelt thanks to all who attended, who supported, and who volunteered at its events.

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, the LBCC Spanish Club will be hosting a fundraiser at Pieology, located at 5027 Lakewood Blvd, Unit 63-2. On October 29, between the hours of 5-10pm, 15% of the proceeds of your purchase will benefit the LBCC Spanish Club. Please remember to bring the attached flyer with you and tell the cashier that you are there for the LBCC Spanish Club fundraiser. Spanish Club members will be at Pieology beginning at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there!

The Spanish club is hosting Noche de Lotería on Thursday, October 22nd, from 6:00-9:30pm in T1200. Last semester, the Spanish Club’s Noche de Loteria was nominated for and awarded the Best Cultural Event of Spring 2015. The Spanish Club hopes you will attend and help them make this night an equal success; come and enjoy an evening of Lotería (mexican-style bingo), prizes, entertainment, pastries, and coffee.

Spanish Club Cultural Event

On Saturday, May 3, 2014, the LBCC Spanish Club attended The Art of Flamenco Dinner Show at Café Sevilla in downtown Long Beach. During the evening show, students enjoyed a vibrant flamenco show accompanied by song and guitar, and a delicious dinner of salad, paella valenciana, and crema catalana. Truly an enjoyable evening of with Spanish flair!

The LBCC Spanish Club will be attending a play at Josephina Lopez’s Casa 0101 Theater in Boyle Heights on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Students will attend the play “Scarred for Life.” Before watching the play, which begins at 8pm, Spanish Club members will go to El mercadito, a supermarket similar to those found in most Spanish speaking countries, where food, drinks, clothing, toys, and many other items are sold. Our 2013 Día de los muertos altar them is femicide in Ciudad Juarez. We dedicated our altar to the memory of these women.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2012, the Long Beach City College C.A.C./Aztlan/C.L.A.  hosted a Día de los muertos altar competition. The Long Beach City College Spanish Club won first place recognition! Way to go Spanish Club!
