Gloria St. Martin-Lowry

Gloria St. Martin-Lowry is Managing Partner at HPWP Consulting, a firm focused on organizational performance. Previously, she spent 20 years as an HR executive and corporate strategist. She is the Founder and President of the Adam St. Martin Foundation which offer scholarships to college and college bound students. Gloria serves on the LBCC Foundation Scholarship Committee.

Gail Schwandner

Long Beach resident Gail Schwandner recently retired from LBCC as the Dean of Workforce Development.She is on the board for Rotary Scholarships, Conservation Corps, Long Beach Day Nursery, the Southern California Regional Training Commission and is Board Chair for Gold Star Manor.

Dr. Andy Tang

Andy Tang is a cosmetic dentist in Long Beach and has been a resident for the past seven years. Boran and raised in southern California, he got his B.S. degree from UC Irvine and his D.D.S. dgree from UCLA. He is involved in various Long Beach organizations such as the Long Beach Junior Chamber and has served on the board of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Women's Business Council for the past four yers.

Mark W. Taylor

Mark W. Taylor serves at the Chief of Staff to Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia.  Prior to that position, he served Long Beach City College for more than seven years concluding as the Director of College Advancement, Public Affairs, and Governmental Relations at Long Beach City College. Mark represented the college in Sacramento and Washington DC, and worked to support the success of LBCC students. Before LBCC, Mark worked in staff and campaign positions and as a consultant on races and for organizations throughout California. Mark, his wife Melissa and sons Zachary and Alexander live in East Long Beach.

 Sabira Tejani

Dr. Sabira Tejani

Dr. Sabina Tejani, has had a practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Los Alamitos since 1981.She was chief of staff at the Los Alamitos Medical Center from 2008-2010.She is a current member of the Soroptimist International of Long Beach and was club president from 2004-2005.She was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2006, and in 2007 received the “Women Who Make a Difference Award for Health”.She is also a member of CSULB “Women in Philanthropy”, St. Mary Hospital’s “Circle of Philanthropy” and is on the Health and Human Services Board for the City of Long Beach.She has been a member of Toastmasters, Gavel Club 11 and Fellow of the American College of OB-Gyn from 1981 to 2010.

 Connie Turner

Connie Turner

Connie Turner is Region Manager in Public Affairs with Southern California Edison.  Ms. Turner is an active alumna of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.  She was selected Woman of the Year by the National Biographical Association, the Los Angeles County Commission for Women and the Pasadena NAACP.  She received the Rosie the Riveter “We Can Do It” award in 2013, the Gardena Chamber Woman of the Year award in 2013 and the Senator Rod Wright “Woman of the Year Award” in 2012.  She is a member of Rosie the Riveter Foundation, is President of the Carson Dominguez Employers Alliance, Vice President of Gardena Chamber of Commerce, board member for the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce as well as Chair of the Gateway Chamber Alliance.  She is also a graduate of Leadership Long Beach.

Rebecca Turrentine

Dr. Rebecca J. Turrentine

Dr. Rebecca J. Turrentine, born and raised in Long Beach, retired in 2003 from a thirty-year career as an educator, serving for the last ten as the Superintendent of the Bellflower Unified School District. Dr. Turrentine served as chair of the Long Beach Commission on Youth and Children, where she led the development of the first Profile of Wellbeing of Youth for the City, which resulted in Long Beach being named as one of America's Promise 100 Best Communities for Young People in both 2005 and 2007. In 2007, Dr. Turrentine worked as a consultant with the Los Angeles County Chief Probation Office and a group of stakeholders appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, to wrtie an Education Reform Plan for a comprehensive overhaul of the educational system for incarcerated youth across LA County. The Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the plan in 2008.

 Donita Van Horik

Donita Van Horik

Donita Van Horik is a Long Beach native, a LBCC scholarship recipient, and a graduate of LBCC. Following her graduation from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS degree in Business Management, she became a systems consultant with Andersen Consulting and ultimately worked as an Executive in the Information Technology field for a number of corporations, both local and international. Sine her retirement in 2000, she has served the community in a number of volunteer capacities and currently chairs the City of Long Beach Planning Commission. Donita has had active leadership roles in the following organizations: Leadership Long Beach, Class of 2006; Assistance League of Long Beach; Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership; Long Beach Day Nursery; Long Beach League for John Tracy Clinic, and the Long Beach Museum of Art. She enjoys her work on the LBCC Foundation Scholarship and Audit Committees.
 Ken Velten

Ken Velten

Ken Velten is a past President and past Treasurer of the Foundation and current member of the Finance Committee. He was president during the Gateway to Greatness capital campaign that raised over $6M for the Foundation. He is retired from Boeing. In 2013, Ken and his wife moved to St. Louis, Missouri to be nearer to family.
 Dr. Mike Walter

Dr. Mike Walter

Dr. Mike Walter, Assistant to the President for Community Relations at California State University Long Beach and former Dean of its College of Business Administration, was elected vice president of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners by his colleagues in July 2007. In business, he held senior executive positions with three multibillion, multinational companies: Levi Strauss, Du Pont and Rockwell International. He is a former chairman of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and a former president of the International Business Association. He is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saint Mary Medical Center. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Conference for Community and Justice, the Boys and Girls Club, Leadership Long Beach, Workforce Development, the Queen Mary Preservation Committee, and the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation. Walter also served on the Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners for two years. President Bush's Business Advisory Council selected Dr. Walter as a 2005 Businessman of the Year award winner.
 W. Gary Westling

W. Gary Westling

W. Gary Westing, an LBCC Alumnus and Long Beach Resident since he went to LBCC in 1978. He also is an alumnus of CSULB. Currently Gary is a Project Manager for Western National Contractors constructing a 9 acre multifamily project in Playa Vista, CA for the Irvine Company. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Sigma Alpha Epsilons Financial and Housing Corporation developing student housing nationally for the organization. He is the past chair and member of the LBCC Citizen Bond Oversight Committee and past chair and member  of the LBCC Foundation Athletic Associates.
 Tim White

Dr. Timothy P. White

Timothy P. White is chancellor of the California State University system, the largest four-year system of higher education in the United States. As chancellor, he oversees 23 campuses, nearly 447,000 students, and 45,000 faculty and staff. The CSU, which spans the entire state of California, has an annual budget of more than $5 billion. It is one of the most diverse and most affordable university systems in the country. Timothy is a product of California’s Master Plan, having pursued his higher education from Diablo Valley Community College, Fresno State, California State University East Bay (nee Hayward), and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Loyd Wilcox 2

Loyd V. Wilcox

Loyd V. Wilcox is a lifelong Long Beach resident and an LBCC alumnus. He is Professor Emeritus from Golden West College where he taught for 43 years. He is a member and former treasurer of the El Dorado Park Estates Home Owner Association; was former Vice President and Treasurer for the Orange County Mathematics Association, former Treasurer of the California Mathematics Association; and was Vice President and Scholarship Chair for the Solbakken Lodge Sons of Norway. He s currently involved with the Long Beach Boy Scouts, St. Mary Medical Center Foundation and the Sons of Norway. Mr. Wilcox was awarded the "Long Beach 5th District Citizen of the Year - 2001" and receive the Silver Beaver BSA Long Beach Council Boy Scouts. He has also authored two published college textbooks. Loyd and his wife Ginnie have endowed an LBCC Scholarship "Shirley Baker Memorial" for deserving students.

Jeff Williams

Jeff Williams

Jeff Williams has been a Long Beach resident since 2003.He went through the Leadership Long Beach Institute program in 2008 and was an active volunteer, then joined staff to run programs and is now the Executive Director.Jeff is an active volunteer for many different community groups, including serving on the CSULB Leadership Resource Center Advisory Board and the steering committee of the Youth Services Network and he recently joined Rotary.He is also the founder of the Long Beach Mardi Gras Festival.

 Ruth Williams

Ruth G. Williams

Ruth Williams taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Long Beach for 31 years before retiring in 1995. She is a Life Member of the NAACP and National Council of Negro Women. She is currently president of the Bouggess-White Scholarship Foundation. Ruth was awarded Outstanding Young Women of America 1970 Edition, 1980 Alumnus of the Year, Los Angeles Chapter, Jackson State University National Alumni Association, 2007 Recipient of the President's Award, as a Governor of the Long Beach City College Foundation. In 1993 Ruth and Luther received the Family Life Awards from Family Service of Long Beach.

Patrice Wong

Patrice Wong

Patrice Wong  recently joined Community Works Consulting, whose practice includes grantsmanship, capacity building and facilitation for nonprofit organizations.  Previously, she was Executive Director of the Long Beach Day Nursery from 2002-2013.  She is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach and has served on its curriculum committee as Education Day Chair.  Pat currently is vice chair/public policy and education of the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Committee.  She served as the 4th district appointee to the Los Angeles County Child Care Planning Committee for seven years and was co-chair of the County Child Care Legislative Workgroup during that time.  Pat also serves on the board of the Long Beach Housing Development Company, and is secretary and chair of the Project Committee of Abode Community Housing.  

 Serafin Zasueta

Dr. Serafin A. Zasueta

Dr. Serafin A. Zasueta is an organizational consultant for the ZasMo Company of Long Beach. A 21-year Long Beach resident, Dr. Zasueta is Director of Rotary, A Board Member of the University of California Board for Puente Project, Vice President of Lightning Velo Cycling Club and Educational Liaison for MVE Institutional. He was Valedictorian for his Doctoral Degree at UCLA and received the Rindone Leadership Award.
