Leaders Across Campus

Welcome current and future Mentees at Long Beach City College!
Are you new to LBCC?
Would you like to make a commitment to learn "secrets of success" to be a great college student?
Would you like to have Mentor (also a student) offer you a helping hand?
If you answered "yes" to these questions, then you may be eligible to join our program. Why would you want to be involved? Having a Mentor is a wise investment in your educational career. A Mentor will help you become familiar with the campus and more comfortable with being in college. Mentors are caring and friendly students who are committed to helping you be successful at LBCC.
Qualifications for becoming a Mentee:
- Be currently registered for, or enrolled in, your first or second semester at Long Beach City College,
- Desire to learn strategies for becoming a more effective student,
- Completion of the Assessment process with placement results showing eligibility for enrollment in English 801AB or 105, Math 805, 815 or 110, Read 880, 881, 882, or 883,
- Make a semester-long commitment to a Mentor who will offer you a "helping hand"
Requirements for being a Mentee:
- Complete and submit a Mentee application
- Attend Mentee Orientation
- Commit to one semester in the program; maximum two semesters
- Meet with your Mentor one hour each week at a time convenient for you both
- Participate in program activities
- Complete the Scavenger Hunt campus resource activity with your Mentor
- Complete the Goal Setting activity with your Mentor
- Meet with an academic counselor at least one time during the semester
Membership in Leaders Across Campus is limited; Mentees are usually decided upon a first-come/first-serve basis. If you are interested in joining, please email leaders@lbcc.edu
Leaders Across Campus data consistently proves that students who actively participate tend to stay in college, complete the semester, and persist to the next semester. We hope that you will consider joining our program and/or telling your friends about it.
