1. Getting the Blank Rollbook
Click on one of the links above to download the Blank Excel Rollbook to your computer desktop.
2. Download it to your Desktop

3. Change the File Name
As you are downloading the file above to your desktop, change the name of the file.

4. Note the Multiple Worksheets
on the file you have downloaded. There are worksheets for Roll, Student Contacts, your Wait List, Permission Numbers, and Other. Any of these worksheets can be customized for other purposes, such as grading assignments.

5. Getting the Individual Files from the Web Class Roster page
You are ready to get the files from the Web Class Roster page. Each category has an individual downloadable file. These are the Class Roster, Waitlist, Dropped Students, and Permission Numbers. Download them individually. (See the Web Class Roster instructions for more information.)
The individual spreadsheets from the Web Class Roster will ALL be named "ps.xls." See the image below.
The ps.xls file is a pop up. You may need to manage pop ups with your Internet browser. Consult the Troubleshooting section if you have problems.
You may see the message below. Sometimes, this message is "hiding" underneath your Internet browser. Minimize your browser and go to Excel.

6. Copy and Paste the Individual Sheets into the Blank Rollbook
You are now ready to copy the Student ID numbers and student names from the "ps.xls" file. See the image below this one.

Return to the Blank Excel Rollbook and put your cursor in the first Student ID cell, as shown below. Then paste. The image below illustrates how you would paste if you chose Right-Click (PC) or Control-Click (Mac), where the popup window below will appear.

Now, the Student IDs and names are in the Blank Excel Rollbook.

Once you paste the names and ID numbers, they will appear automatically on multiple worksheets.

7. Customize the Rollbook
The Header
Add the information to the header on the first page. It will repeat on all pages.

8. Printing the Rollbook
The rollbook contains multiple pages. When you print, CHECK FIRST to see what pages you will actually need. Then, choose those pages in your Print window.
9. Troubleshooting
Some troubleshooting may be necessary if the pop-up file does not open.
a. TRY THIS FIRST: With some browsers, you can press and hold the CTRL key while clicking the link that opens a pop-up. This will override the Pop-Up Blocker just for that one click and allow any pop-up windows resulting from the click to appear. You will have to hold down the CTRL key before clicking the link every time you click on a link that is currently being blocked.
b. You may have to set your browser to allow pop-ups.
c. The easiest way to deal with this problem may be to unblock the pop-up for that individual page.
If the Excel file does not seem to open with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, look at the top of the browser window for a message like the one below. Usually a yellow bar will appear the length of your browser window. With the Mac browser Safari, you will always have to block pop-ups in advance.
Click on the OPTIONS button and choose "Allow Pop-Ups..." This will allow pop-ups from this site only. (Internet Explorer and Firefox)
