Enter a Permission Number
Oracle PeopleSoft

The class add process may at times require a permission number.  The two most common examples of the use of a permission number include full classes and enrollment to a course after the term has started.

For example, a class might be full upon the student's attempt to enroll.  Upon the first day of the class the student might attend the first session and ask if they can be enrolled.  If the instructor has a full class, but a number of students do not appear on the first day, the instructor might drop those no-show students and provide a permission number to the new student.

The permission number use process is the same as the class add process with one extra step.

permissions

We will add class number 73186.

permissions

Click the enter button.

Then make sure that you entered the correct class number by reading the class details and selecting the NEXT button.

permissions

Notice that there was an error as indicated in the Status column.

permissions

The following message is displayed on the final step.
Because the class is CLOSED, as indicated by the BLUE closed message, as shown above, and the "full" message as shown below, the student needs a permission number to enroll in the course.

permissions

The permission number is provided by the course instructor.

The following is a sample permission number:

Permission number --173314

To use the permission number we will go to the student's shopping cart as shown below.

permissions

Because permission numbers are course specific, they must be entered on the course associated with them.  This is done by clicking on the Class link in the shopping cart.  In the example below, this is F_N_233-1.   We will click on this.

permissions

The following screen will appear.   Notice in the graphic below, that there is a blank permission number field to the right of the blue closed icon.  The permission number is entered in this field.

permissions

After the permission number is entered, click on the green NEXT button.

permissions

The following screen will appear.  Now click on the green enroll button.

permissions

The confirmation screen will be displayed.  If this is the proper course, click on the green FINISH ENROLLING button.

permissions

The following screen will be displayed.

permissions

This screen confirms that the student was enrolled in the course.

Click on the MY CLASS SCHEDULE button on the bottom of the screen to view the course in the entire student schedule.

Notice that the Status of the F_N_233 course is "Enrolled."
