The Department of Music offers a comprehensive sequence in both music theory and musicianship. These courses are required for music majors and are designed to prepare one for transfer into a university program. The theory sequence focuses on analytical skills and compositional techniques for the common-practice periods and the 20th Century. The musicianship courses concentrate on sight-reading and dictation skills for the same periods.

Theory Sequence: Music 6 (Intro), 1A, 1B, 2A
Musicianship Sequence: Music 5, 9, 10, 16

Studies in applied composition are available, but are limited to students already in the applied program, and with the approval of Dr. Knapp.
