Darwin Thorpe

Mr. Darwin Thorpe

Chairperson

 

Mr. Darwin Thorpe is the Union's appointee. He has been an active resident of the City of Long Beach for forty-three years. Mr. Thorpe is a retired biology college professor. His previous community involvement includes being a past member and president of the Long Beach City College District Board of Trustees, the Long Beach Community College District Personnel Commission, the Personnel Commissioner's Association of Southern California, and the State Faculty Association of the California Community Colleges. Mr. Thorpe is a former vice president and current member of the California Federation of Teachers. He is also a member of the U.S. Navy Restoration Advisory Board for the Long Beach Naval Complex, and Long Beach Organic, a sustainable gardening organization.

Mr. Richard Gaylord, our current Chairperson, and the Board of Trustees' appointee. Mr. Gaylord is a licensed real estate broker who has been active in both professional organizations and in community service. In addition to his current service, Mr. Gaylord has served as the Chair of the Long Beach Civil Service Commission, and the Chairman of the State's Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Mr. Gaylord is the past President of the National Realtors Association.

 

Jeannine McManigal-Ball

Ms. Jeannine McManigal-Ball is the Vice Chair and the Commissioner's Appointee of the Board of Trustees and Classified Employee's Union. She graduated from Lakewood High School and Long Beach City College, before receiving her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern California and Master's Degree from Cal State Long Beach. Ms. McManigal-Ball is a teacher at Los Alamitos High School.
