LBCC Foundation Photo Contest

The annual "LBCC Foundation Photo Contest" will take place during the PhotoFest and is open to all LBCC students currently enrolled in photography classes.  

The categories for this year's photo contest are:
Landscape
Portraiture
Documentary

Cash prizes are awarded in each category:
First Place        $100
Second Place  $45
Third Place      $35

All work is due at the PCC lab by Thursday April 26th at 8:00pm.  Work must be matted using white 16x20 inch mat board.
 

Please join us for the student photo show opening and the awarding of prizes on Saturday, April 28th at our gallery on 635 Pine Street in downtown Long Beach.
The show will start at 6:00pm - Free Refreshments!

Fashion Narrative

One thousand dollars in prizes will be awarded for the best fashion narrative.  Open to LBCC students only, please submit 6 to 10 prints that fit a "fashion narrative" theme.  

Deadline: 8:00pm Thursday, April 26.  Entries will be accepted at the PCC Photo lab room OO3.  Each image should be matted on 16x20 inch mat board.

Sponsored by Kara Saun, the owner and creative force behind Kara Saun  LLC, a fashion and costume design house that specializes in highly-stylized, fashion-driven projects.  She effortlessly infuses her fresh and unmistakable signature into each and every detail.  The much sought after design visionary has become the go-to costume designer behind such shows as NBC's a cappella sensation "The Sing-Off" and MTV's hit series "America's Best Dance Crew."  She beautifully designed the ABC reality series "True Beauty," produced by Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks, which featured the breathtaking Kara Saun Red Carpet Collection.

Camera Phone Contest

The Camera Phone Contest is about showing the beauty that lies within the camera
phone and the many apps thatcan be used to enhance the photos.
All chosen entries will be displayed during the LBCC Student Photo Contest as a slide show.
Please submit your images by email to lbcc.cpc@gmail.com as a digital file.
The entry deadline is Thursday, April 26, 2012
There are 3 categories:
Self Portrait, Landscape and Street Photography
File size: maximum 1500 pixels on the long side, jpeg file, RGB
Photos will be displayed during the student photo show, Saturday April 28 at the photo contest gallery, 635 Pine Ave, Long Beach.
This is a fun, free competition for all of you avid Instragram, Hipstamatic, and CameraBag enthusiasts!

Plasticity

Plasticity is an interactive plastic lens photography competition for film and digital artists with Jones Studio gallery patrons voting and narrowing the field to one category for film and one category for digital. The final two categories will be juried by Southern California photo journalists, curators & gallery owners.

-Nature
-Poverty
-New
-Ugly

Digital Categories:
-Industrial
-Wealth
-Old
-Beautiful

Photographers can enter one piece in a series of 4 categories for Film and a series of 4 categories for digital. (8 pieces total. $5 per piece. Categories can be found on Facebook page for the show. URL below.)

The patrons of the galley will come in and receive a ballot to vote for their single favorite piece from any of the film categories and their single favorite piece from any of the digital categories.

The category for film and the category for digital with the most popular votes within it will go on to be juried where a single winner will be selected for each format.

There will also be honorable mentions for the photograph in each format that generates the most votes and a juries pick honorable mention from any category in each format.
