I have been teaching part time in the Physical Science Department at LBCC since 2004, and I have really enjoyed teaching the fundamentals of geology to eager to learn students.   I grew up in northern Michigan and have always had a love affair for the outdoors, especially hiking around and collecting rocks, fossils, and small creatures from the outdoor paradise that is Michigan.

When I went to college, I naturally gravitated towards the Biology Department and subsequently received a Bachelor's Degree from San Jose State University in 1989.   After graduation and moving to the Los Angeles area, I worked in a medical laboratory collected and analyzing blood and serum samples and spent a good deal of time behind a microscope.   Although it was an interesting discipline, I was still eager to learn and took some classes on the side.   After taking an outstanding class in physical geology from an enthusiastic instructor, I was hooked on the subject for good.   I spent the next few years taking classes and received a Master's Degree in Geology from California State University-Northridge in 1999.   I especially liked rocks, how and where they form, and the general chemistry of them (geochemistry).   After graduation, I worked as a geologist for a firm in Long Beach where I honed my skills as an environmental geologist and spent a good deal of time in the field with a great group of people.   Most recently I accepted a consulting position with a large firm in Los Angeles.

Although I love to watch and play sports, listen to music, and travel the States in pursuit of studying history, I still feel most comfortable in the outdoors hiking and camping and checking out various geologic landforms with my dog Psycho.
