Education and Employment
I received my BA in Astronomy and Physics from UCLA, graduating with Honors, and my MA in Astronomy, also from UCLA, prior to taking a position at Long Beach City College. I have served as LBCC's only full-time astronomy instructor since the summer of 1970.

I maintain a web site for my students, and for community members interested in astronomical topics, at cseligman.com. Although part of the site is devoted to my classes, there is a considerable amount of material, gradually being organized into an Online Astronomy Text, which is of more general interest.

During the Spring and Fall semesters, I hold Astronomy Open Houses about once a month, usually on the Friday night nearest the first quarter moon. These open houses include a planetarium show and (weather permitting) telescope viewing afterwards. The shows are free of charge, and are open to students, members of the LBCC community, and members of the general public.

Interests
My current interests include reading, writing (see Novels, below), walking, and playing the piano. In the late 70's and early 80's, I was very involved with American-style ballroom dancing. It was through dancing that I met my wife, Sheri -- a very nice bonus for what was already a very pleasurable avocation -- and although we haven't danced competitively for many years, we still enjoy an occasional turn around the floor.

Novels
I have been writing, primarily for my own enjoyment, for several years. In early 2003, I began work on a historical romance, Two Pigs and a Chicken, which was published in April of 2004. The book is about a farmer who buys a girl from her uncle, to save her from a terrible fate, and gets more than he bargained for. I have had many requests for a sequel, and as a result, am now working on The Maiden All Forlorn, which will be published in late 2008 or early 2009, as well as another novel, Ialia And The Flyer, a romantic adventure set in a fantasy world, which will be published in late 2009 or early 2010. I maintain a website, ErindalePublishing.com, for the marketing and promotion of my novels, which may be purchased through that site, other online sites (including Amazon.com), or at the ASB Bookstore, on the LAC campus of Long Beach City College.
