Student Success cultivates and promotes student intellectual growth and achievement by providing high-quality programs to address the broad range of academic and developmental needs of students. The dean of Student Success provides leadership and operational responsibilities for all aspects of the college's Student Success agenda as well as assists in fostering a culture of transfer and guiding the campus in creating systemic change in the way faculty and staff meet the needs of underprepared and academically advanced/honors students.
Student Success includes the Learning and Academic Resources and the Academic Support and Development departments, the Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs, and the Honors and Learning Communities programs. The LAC Multidisciplinary Success Center and the PCC Multidisciplinary Success Center are the under the direct purview of the Student Success academic departments, and the Math Success Center and the Writing/Reading Success Center are the shared responsibility of Student Success and the respective departments.
The Learning and Academic Resources department (LAR) includes courses to develop student learning, time management, study skills, and computer proficiencies for academic success. Tutoring and supplemental instruction at both campuses are offered through LAR, which also provides supplemental learning assistance via the LAC Multidisciplinary Success Center, located on the second floor of the Library.
The Academic Support and Development department provides supplemental learning assistance via the PCC Multidisciplinary Success Center and the Career Technology Education Center and basic skills instruction through a sequence of enhanced non-credit courses.
