In order to comply with all standards established by the Orange County/Long Beach Consortium for Nursing and various clinical agencies attended by students throughout the program certain health and safety information and records must be maintained in each student file. Each student must submit to the program director or her designee documented proof (copies are acceptable) that the following requirements have been met and are current. The faculty suggests the student utilize this page to keep an active record of all expiration and/or renewal dates for each of these standards. In addition, copies should be maintained in a file by the student.
Physical and Mental Health
All students entering or re-entering the Vocational nursing program must submit a "Health Evaluation for the Vocational Nursing Program"(LBCC form) completed within the last year demonstrating good physical and mental health.
Tuberculosis Screening
Provide, if previously negative for TB, evidence of the absence of Tuberculosis by submitting to Mantoux PPD screening annually. If previously positive for TB, a chest x-ray is required on entry to the program and the student must complete a questionnaire annually showering that he/she is free of suspicious symptoms. Students, who convert to TB positive during the course of the program, must provide a chest x-ray report as evidence of the absence of active TB and then complete a questionnaire annually showering that they are free of suspicious symptoms.
TB tests are offered at no cost in the Student Health Center. Click on the following link for additional information:
