Bureau of Automotive Repair Certified

Smog Check Program

Get your Advanced Emission Specialist License in as little as 1 YEAR!!!

Smog Check Technicians are in high demand to meet the state emission standards.  We are the leader in the nation in the pollution solution and the world looks to us to show them the way.  Smog Check Technicians earn $45,000 to start and the sky's the limit on potential.  The road's not easy but the rewards are there for those willing to meet the challenge.  Work with today's computerized engine management systems to help green up our environment and have an exciting career in the process.

The Bureau of Automotive Repair has standards which must be met to obtain and retain a Smog Check license.

There are three types of licenses available, Intern, Basic and Advanced Emissions Specialist with specific requirements for each.  The quickest to obtain is the Intern license, which allows you to work with a licensed Smog Check technician repairing cars that have failed the smog check.  This is accomplished by qualifying for, and completing the Basic Clean Air Car Course (BCAC).   Basic Clean Air Car is also contained in our Computers & Emission Controls class in the daytime and our Emission Controls class at night as well.

To qualify for the B.A.R. Smog Check Licensing Exam you must have a combination of ASE certifications, Education and Experience as well as Update training sessions as required by the Bureau.  We offer these programs as stand alone classes in our Community Services program.   They are also contained in our Computers & Emission Controls class in the daytime and our Emission Controls class at night.

Use this checklist to see if you qualify for the Advanced Emission Specialist Licensing Exam:
