Cal Macy - Advanced Transportation Project Director

Cal Macy directs the ATTE Center and its related Grants.  He also teaches the Smog Check program, the Alternative Fuels, and the Electric Vehicle programs.  He worked at the corporate level of Jeep/Chrysler for over 12 years as a Technical Rep and Instructor.  He has a B.S. degree in Industrial Education and is an ASE Certified Master Technician for over 20 years, CSA Certified CNG cylinder instructor, Smog Check Technician/ Instructor.  He is a founding Member of the Board of the SCRTTC, a training consortium of transit agencies and colleges in Southern California.  Cal wrote the CNG Cylinder Inspection Training Manual and is nationally recognized as an expert in this field.

 

Pete Sparks - Advanced Transportation Project Coordinator

Pete Sparks teaches the Alternative Fuels and Electric/Hybrid vehicle programs along with the Smog Check program.  He worked in industry as a  Jeep technician for over 25 years and at the corporate level for several years. He has earned a Bachelors Degree in Vocational Education and a Masters Degree in Occupational Studies from CSULB. Pete is an ASE Certified Master Technician, Smog Check Technician and holds BAR Smog Check Instructor certifications. Pete is also NABCEP certified in Photovoltaic systems.

 

Larry Boone - Instructor

Larry teaches the Electric Vehicle program and the Quick Service classes. He has 36 years experience in the automotive service industry as a technician, service writer, service manager, shop owner, high school & college instructor. He holds ASE Certifications :  A1 - A8 (Master Technician)  L1 (Advanced Level Engine Performance)  F1 (Alternate Fuels / CNG)  X1 (Exhaust Systems)  T1 - T3 (Medium Duty Truck - Engines, Drive Trains)  C1 - Service Consultant  Undercar Specialist. Other Certifications : EA Smog Technician Advanced Level Certified Smog Training Instructor CSA Certified CNG Cylinder Inspector CSA Certified CNG Cylinder Inspection Instructor John Deere Engine Control Systems.

 

Bryan Fargo - Instructor

Bryan Fargo teaches in the Alternative Fuels, Diesel, and Automotive programs. He is experienced as both an Engineer and Technician in various aspects of industry, currently working at Westport Innovations, having worked for companies such as Roush Industries and Isuzu Motors America.  He holds a B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering along with ASE Certified Master Technician, CSA Certified CNG Cylinder Inspector, and various specialty certifications.

 

Bob Vannix - Instructor

Bob Vannix brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and talent to his work in the Southern California area. His experience includes; a professor of automotive technology at leading U.S. Community Colleges, and technical writing for automotive manufacturers. As an instructor, he is adept in creating curriculum from development to writing and teaching the classes. He has a B. S. Degree in Industrial Technology specializing in Automotive, and A.S. Degree in Management, from La Sierra Univ., Riverside, CA. He also has an A.S. Degree in Information Systems, Ventura College, Ventura, CA. At this time he is completing his Master’s Thesis in Education at Cal State Northridge, CA.

 

Glen Hill - Instructor

Glen Hill teaches the Alternative Fuels Program at LBCC's satellite facility located at Cabrillo High School. Glen also teaches Alternative Fuels programs at LBCC for the Economic Development Office.
