Center for Learning Assistance Services Liberal Arts Campus Pacific Coast Campus North Wing of the Library Room GG129 (562)938-4474 (562)938-3991 The Center for Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) has a variety of programs to help students reach their academic potential. Skills to enhance learning, such as time management, test taking, notetaking and goal setting, are taught through a series of workshops, individualized instruction courses, (LEARN810AD and 610) and a learning skills class (LEARN11). Students seeking supplemental resource materials for courses may use CLAS media materi-als on their own or at the direction of their instruc-tor. Audiotapes, videotapes, slides and films dealing with such subjects as music, psychology, art, accounting, chemistry and study skills are available. The center also houses the videotape collection for televised instruction courses. Tutoring Tutoring is offered in many college subjects, including accounting, biology, chemistry, physics, foreign languages, math and study skills. Students work individually and in small groups. Interested students should inquire in Room L117 at LAC or GG129 at PCC. Vocational Assistance Assistance is provided for vocational students to improve the math, measurement, reading or English skills needed in their programs. Instruc-tional materials related to various occupational areas are also available. Students receive individualized instruction and work at their own pace during times that are convenient for them. Computer Assisted Instruction A Macintosh Multimedia Lab is located in L135 at the Liberal Arts campus. There are Macintosh computers, CD-ROM drives, laser printers and a collection of software and courseware for student use. No prior computer knowledge is required. Interested students may obtain more information about the services available by visiting the facility. There are twenty IBM compatible and several Macintosh computers available at PCC in Room GG113.
