With guidance from new regulations on Gainful Employment created by the US Department of Education, we have tried to provide a helpful guide to critical information about certificates available at Long Beach City College. We've organized this information by the title of each certificate available at LBCC. Within each link, you will find a summary which includes: the title of the certificate, information about how long the program takes, what the approximate cost of the program is, how many students complete the program in a particular year, and how many of them take out student loans in order to complete the program as well as the state and federal classifications of instructional programs and occupations that are associated with the certificate
One of the reasons this information is important is that for a student to be eligible for Federal Student Aid, he or she MUST be enrolled in an educational program that leads to an associate's degree, or prepares a student for gainful employment in a recognized occupation. Students must declare an associate's major, select a transfer goal, or be enrolled in one of the following non degree certificate programs in order to be eligible for Federal Student Aid at Long Beach City College. Certificate programs of less than 18 units in length are generally not eligible for Federal Student Aid.
