Ann-Marie Gabel serves as Acting Superintendent-President - for the Long Beach Community College District. In her permanent role, Ms. Gabel serves as the Vice President for Administrative Services, a position she assumed in 2007. During her tenure Ms. Gabel has led two successful bond campaigns garnering $1.29 billion in Prop. 39 General Obligation bonds. Ms. Gabel's efforts have begun transformation at both Long Beach City College campuses, and have been acknowledged through the Board of Governors Energy and Sustainability Award in 2016 and Community College Facility Coalition Award of Merit in 2012.

Ms. Gabel began her career with Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, LLP where she worked for seven years primarily as a K-12 and community college district auditor. As an auditor, Ms. Gabel gained an appreciation for community colleges and began aspiring toward becoming a Chief Business Officer (CBO). Her first foray into community colleges was with North Orange County CCD where she was the Accounting Manager for seven years before moving to Rancho Santiago CCD as the Assistant Vice Chancellor Fiscal Services for two years.

Ms. Gabel possesses extensive involvement in statewide community college issues. She served as the Community College Chair for the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) for six years and then as a founding member of the Business Officers Southern California Community Colleges (BOSCCC) after the two groups separated. Since 2008, Ms. Gabel has been a member of the Association of Chief Business Officials (ACBO) FUSION Steering Committee and Facilities Taskforce, becoming the chair in 2011. In 2009, she re-instituted the Southern California Chief Business Officials meetings. Ms. Gabel was nominated as the Region 8 representative to the ACBO Board in 2012 and, subsequently in 2015, was elected as the ACBO President-Elect. Ms. Gabel represented ACBO on the SSSP Workgroup which created the new funding formula for Student Success and Support Programs (SSSP). Ms. Gabel has also served as Vice-Chair of the Chancellor's Advisory Workgroup on Fiscal Affairs since its inception in 2013. Just recently, Ms. Gabel received the Walter Star Robie award from ACBO, the highest honor awarded by chief business officials in California community colleges.

Outside of ACBO, Ann-Marie serves as the Vice-President and Chair of the Claims Committee for the Statewide Association of Community Colleges JPA (SWACC) and the Vice President of the Protected Insurance Program for Schools and Community Colleges JPA (PIPS). She has also served as a board member of the City of Lakewood and City of Signal Hill Redevelopment Oversight Committees, as well as, the Los Angeles County Schools Regionalized Services Corporation.

Ms. Gabel received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton and her Master's Degree in Educational Management from University of La Verne. She has been married to her husband, Steve for 27 years and they have one son, Blake, who just started at UC San Diego. They have a dog, Zoey and a cat, Amber, both rescues.
