LBCC's institution level reports provide an in-depth look into each assessment conducted for the general education outcomes. These reports describe the methodology, data collection process, results, and actions taken for each general education outcome that has been assessed.

For the first time in spring 2014, LBCC participated in the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). The CCSSE is an assessment instrument created by the Center for Community College Student Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin and it is used to measure student engagement (e.g., student engagement with faculty, subject matter, studying), a key indicator of student learning. Students who participate in the CCSSE are asked to report on their perceptions of their own behaviors in and outside of the classroom, as well as on their perceptions of institutional practices. 

While the CCSSE is a standardized survey measure, the creators of the survey allow each college to create up to 15 additional custom survey items to be included with the CCSSE survey when the survey is administered at their college. Long Beach City College decided to utilize this opportunity to create items that could assess each of the college's GEOs. 

The 2014 preliminary report discusses the CCSSE methodology, preliminary findings, and future directions for data analysis. Preliminary results will be discussed with the ASLO subcommittee and a full report will be available in late fall 2014.
