Welcome to the Department Plan and Program Review website!

Department Planning is an annual process that provides departments the ability to develop their goals, projects or strategies and submit any resource requests to help them achieve such. The Department Plan is not a stagnant document as it is updated annually to reflect the direction the department is headed.  Department Plans that are due in final form in the fall of a particular academic year reflect and project planning for the following academic year. A strong Department Plan will include: a comprehensive mission statement, department description, access, efficiency and effectiveness data, internal and external conditions affecting the department, accomplishments and goals, projects or strategies.  Resource requests could include: department wide training and professional development needs, curriculum enhancement or expansion including new programs and certificates, increased articulation agreements, major research studies, advertising and marketing needs, equipment replacement or new equipment and software needs, new or increased faculty and classified staff position needs.

Instructional Program Review is conducted every three years.  IPR affords the departments and programs a chance to step back and reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the instructional programs within their departments over the past three years.  Progress towards curricular goals, projects and strategies, and the results of outcomes assessments are integral parts of the program review process. Approximately one third of the programs undergo IPR in a given year, according to the Instructional Program Review Schedule set by the Department Planning/ Program Review Subcommittee.

**Please Note: The instructional program review schedule is currently being revised by the DPPR Chair and Planning Systems Analyst to align with Ed Code Review for CTE programs. A detailed schedule of upcoming program reviews for the next three years will be posted by October 2017.

Service Program Review in the Student Support Services and Administrative areas are conducted every three years. Like the IPR, SPR affords the departments and programs a chance to step back and reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of their areas over the past three years.  Progress towards goals, projects and strategies, and the results of outcomes assessments are integral parts of the SPR process as well. All programs/ departments within an area conduct the SPR at the same time.
