More than 700 scholarships are given each year, making our scholarship program one of the largest of all community colleges in California. Students are required to only fill out one application and the scholarship committee will match you with the appropriate scholarship, if you are eligible.

Award notifications for the 2015-2016 academic year will be mailed around mid-May.

The new application filing dates for the 2015-2016 school year:
Start: Monday, August 25, 2014
Ending: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 4 PM

2014-2015 Long Beach City College Scholarship Recipients
Fall 2014 installments are now available through Tuesday, December 16, 2014

In order to claim your Fall 2014 scholarship award, please bring the following items to the scholarship office:

  • Fall 2014 class schedule ("List View" format)
  • Spring 2014 grades (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
  • Fall 2014 sticker affixed to the back of your ID card if you are returning to LBCC (or proof you paid for your College Fee)

Once we have verified scholarship requirements have been met, the scholarship award(s) will be sent to the LBCC Higher One debit card/account or the student can request not to use Higher One and have a check issued directly to them.

Soroptimist International of Long Beach “Live Your Dream” Cash Grant

Soroptimist International of Long Beach has three grants for women who are the primary financial support of their families and who seek to improve their lives by gaining additional skills, training, or other education, but do not have the financial resources to do so. The first place winner receives $2,500, the second place winner receives $1,500, and the third place winner receives $1,000. These cash grants may be used to offset any costs associated with efforts to obtain more training and education, including tuition, books, supplies, child care and transportation costs.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor’s degrees at the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities. It is the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country, and each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.

Applications are due on December 2, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time.

National Council of Jewish Women/ Los Angeles (NCJW/LA)
Various Deadlines

The National Council of Jewish Women/ Los Angeles (NCJW/LA) provides scholarships, regardless of religious belief, to those who live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. The highly competitive selection criteria include the ability to articulate a clear statement of goals, the likelihood of goal attainment, the personal courage & commitment of the applicant, and financial need.
