Why study abroad?
| |
Study abroad offers an opportunity for growth and understanding that few other experiences can provide so intensely. For many LBCC students, it is the first time that they've ever left the country. Many students comment that they learned more about the United States and the rest of the world's perceptions of the United States when they were outside the country than all the time they had spent in it. Others find they learn more about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, assumptions and beliefs. Still others develop friendships that last a lifetime. Without exception, all students report that experiencing study abroad changes their life forever; it makes the world smaller and definitely more interesting!
One more reason to study abroad? It's fun! The bonding that takes place during study abroad is unique. The possibilities for exploration are limitless. Many students take advantage of the opportunity for more travel and sightseeing after the program has ended by staying on in the country or visiting surrounding countries. And everyone enjoys the bragging rights of being able to say, "When I was in__________last summer..."
