Based on double occupancy
If registration (with a deposit of $200) is received before December 31st, 2010, a $100 discount will be applied to the program price after all payments have been received on time.

Friday, July 2 - Check in Day
Today we check in to the flight at Terminal 2 in Los Angeles International Airport.
Saturday, July 3 - Departure Day
This morning, we depart from Los Angeles International Airport for China.
Sunday, July 4 - Beijing - Shanghai
Today we arrive in Beijing. We will take a connection flight to Shanghai where we will be greeted by a CDT representative and transferred to East China Normal University.
Monday, July 5 - Friday, July 9 - ECNU
This will mark our first week of classes at East China Normal University.
Saturday, July 10 - Shanghai - Suzhou
Today we visit Suzhou. Our adventure will take us to the Tiger Hill, Linger-in Garden, and the Silk Cultivation Factory #1. |

Sunday, July 11 - Suzhou - Shanghai
Today, we will visit the Yu Yuan Gardens, followed by a visit to the Shanghai World Financial Center. We will stop by the Bund and Nanjing Road on the way back to ECNU student dorm.
Monday, July 12 - Friday July 16 - ECNU
This will mark our second week of classes at East China
Normal University.

Saturday, July 17 - Shanghai - Zhujiajiao
Today, we will take a drive to Zhujiajiao and visit Fang Sheng Bridge, Shanghai's longest and largest stone bridge, Baoguo Temple, Town God's Temple and Zhuxi Garden. We will see a Shanghai Acrobatic show in the evening. |

Sunday, July 18 - Shanghai
After breakfast, we will visit the Shanghai Museum in the People's Square. After lunch, we will visit the Shanghai Expo and spend the day there.
Monday, July 19 - Friday, July 23 - ECNU
Today marks our third week of classes at East China Normal University.
Saturday, July 24 - Shanghai - Hangzhou
Drive to Hangzhou. Visit the Six Harmonies Pagoda, the Lingyin Temple and Peak Flown From Afar. Finish the afternoon with a visit to the Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Sunday, July 25 - Hangzhou - Shanghai
Today we will visit the National Tea Museum, Grand Canal and West Lake. Return to Shanghai in the evening.

Today marks our fourth week of classes at East China Normal University.
Friday, July 30 - Shanghai
Today we finish our classes at East China Normal University. Free evening to enjoy Shanghai on your own.
Saturday, July 31 - Shanghai - Xi'an
In the morning, we will take a trip to the Shanghai World Expo. Our flight to Xian is in the evening. Check into the hotel in Xian and relax for the remainder of the evening.
Sunday, August 1 - Xi'an - Beijing
After breakfast, we visit the Terracotta Warriors Excavation Site, Big Goose Pagoda and Ancient City Wall and then catch an evening flight to Beijing.

Monday, August 2 - Beijing
Today, we visit the sites of the 2008 Olympic Games such as the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. Visit the Summer Palace and Pearl Factory to watch a demonstration on how oyster pearls are cultivated. Enjoy a Kung Fu Show in the evening. |

Tuesday, August 3 - Beijing
Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. Enjoy a Peking duck banquet in the evening.
Day 34: Wednesday, August 4 - Beijing
Visit the Great Wall and Jade Carving Demonstration. Afterwards, we visit the Ming Tombs where 13 Ming Dynasty Emperors are preserved. We will catch an evening flight home to USA (Beijing-LAX) and arrive the same day. |

Dr. Sheng-Tai Chang |
Sheng-Tai Chang received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and M.A. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Southern California (USC). He also holds an M.A. in English from the University of Calgary in Canada. He was born and raised in Shanghai and went to East China Normal University before he came to North America for graduate studies. In addition to teaching English classes, he has devoted himself to developing LBCC's Chinese program.
The Study Abroad Program in China in summer 2009 is the first such program offered by LBCC that allows students to study Chinese language or Chinese literature in translation in a Chinese cultural environment and to enhance their learning experience through a "grand tour" of China. Dr. Chang is thrilled to be able to lead the program and share his experience and insight as a scholar in East-West literary relations and as a native of the city that students will call "home" for a month.
