With a BFA in Photography from Art Center College of Design, Ann Mitchell worked as an award-winning advertising and editorial photographer for over a decade. She then left commercial photography to pursue her own imagery and has a MFA from Claremont Graduate University.

Her photographs have been included in a large number of solo and group exhibitions in the United States and Internationally. She has also served as curator and organizer of photo-related events. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and Balcony Press released Austin Val Verde: Impressions of a Montecito Masterpiece, a monograph of the Val Verde project. Ann Mitchell continues to teach and pursue her photographic interests in her new series The Chance Chronicles, a constructed set of landscapes inspired through Buddhist meditations.
