Professor, Italian & Spanish
Professor Rigo Ibarra was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and grew up in the Venice, California area. He received his BA in Spanish and Linguistics with honors, his MA. and his Candidate in Philosophy (C Phil) in Romance Linguistics and Literatures with high honors from University of California at Los Angeles with a major in Spanish and a minor in Italian, French, and Portuguese. In the past, he has taught at the University of California at Los Angeles, University of California at Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, El Camino College and California State University at Long Beach. He has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe and has led study abroad programs for Long Beach City College to Guadalajara, Mexico, and Madrid, Spain. Currently, he is a member of the Student Grade Review Committee, Chair of the Long Beach City College Faculty Association Election Committee, the current Study Abroad Coordinator, and is the originating sponsor for the service club Aztlan. In addition, Professor Ibarra was named LBCC’s Best Instructor of 2006 and was a runner-up in 2010.
Professor Ibarra is delighted to be part of the Long Beach City College community and looks forward to a bright future at Long Beach City College.
