2018 Spring Olympics
Long Beach City College is proud to host the 5th Annual Spring Olympics on May 11.

Gather department teammates and bring your best game to the 2018 Spring Olympics! Work on your team-building skills, cheer on your department and have lunch with your colleagues. Sign up before April 16 as the events will fill up fast!

WHERE: Gymnasium, Building R

WHEN: 9:30 am (Opening Ceremony), 9:50 am (Team-building events), 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm (Lunch)



Event Location Team Size Details
Basketball Gym Floor 4 Team members will have 30 seconds per person to make the most baskets.
Mini Golf Lawn 4 Lowest team score wins; 4 holes – shotgun start
Ping Pong Gym Floor 2 There will be two tables; Games are played to 21 points; Each player must alternate hitting the ball.
Dodgeball Gym Floor 6 Object is to eliminate opposing players by getting them out.
Tower of Power Mezzanine 4-6 Teams will need to strategize and work together to stack as many objects as high as possible.
Bean Bag Toss Lawn 2 Old school bean bag toss.
Walk the Plank Lawn 4 Team members will work together to move in unison across the field.
Piece by Piece Mezzanine 2-4 Teams will work together to put together a puzzle within a limited period of time.
Football Throw Lawn 4 Teams will combine their individual scores.
Ring Toss Lawn 2-4 Teams will combine their individual scores.
Concentration Mezzanine 2 Teams will compete against each other for the most matches and the best overall time.
Spelling Bee Bldg. R, Classroom 2-4 Teams will compete to be the last team standing in this intellectual challenge.


Can I sign my team up for more than one event?

Yes, however, the event times may overlap and you may only be able to participate in one.

When will the event schedule be finalized?

After April 16, when all of the forms have been submitted.

How are points awarded?

Points are awarded in each event as follows:

  • 1st Place = 3 points
  • 2nd Place = 2 points
  • 3rd Place = 1 point

What do we win?

The top three departments at the end of the day will receive gift cards to S&B Foods and are entered to compete in the main event – The Viking Derby.

Can I volunteer?
