Bob and Barbara Ellis Auditorium
Barbara Ellis has had quite an impact in the Long Beach community for many years. From her teaching days at Hughes Junior High School and Lakewood High School to her extensive volunteerism, Board involvement, and student advocacy, Barbara gives of herself and her resources. She embodies the phrase, “time, talent, and treasure.”
Recently, Barbara took this to a whole other level, gifting the Long Beach City College Foundation a transformational endowment estate gift. This gift will benefit Long Beach City College students in performing arts, students in the Long Beach College Promise program, and students impacted by the President’s Circle.
The Trustees also approved the naming of the newly renovated auditorium to be the Bob and Barbara Ellis Auditorium. “An endowment gift is a gift that keeps giving,” stressed Foundation CEO Paul Kaminski, “an endowment of this size will provide funding for students in perpetuity. This gift will have a lasting impact.”
Foundation Board Treasurer Mark Taylor commented, “We are all deeply indebted to Barbara and her family for this groundbreaking gift!” Board President Aaron Moore emphasized, “Barbara is a paragon of generosity and class!”
