C.C. Sadler
Online Learning and Educational Technology
C.C. Sadler is one of the many Long Beach City Colle staff and faculty that are proud to call themselves Viking Alumni. On July 1, 2019, C.C. became the President of LBCC’s Classified Senate. While being appointed Classified Senate President is certainly a professional achievement for Sadler, it also marks a significant personal accomplishment. Several years ago, Sadler, along with some of her colleagues at LBCC, realized the college had a void in the representation of its classified employees. “We realized that we had fallen behind. You had a Classified Senate at the state level (California Community Colleges Classified Senate) and a lot of other community colleges had established one already. It was time for LBCC.” Sadler set out to make it a reality.
After a lot of work and planning, Sadler and her colleagues held the first meeting of the Long Beach Community College District Classified Senate in June of 2017. Since then, they have worked tirelessly to fulfill their mission to “represent the classified professionals of Long Beach Community College District with regard to governance, decision-making, [...] and contributions to the campus community” ( LBCC Classified Senate Constitution). LBCC Classified employees now have a voice at the local level as well as the state level.
The desire to help is not new to C.C. – in fact, she’s built her career at LBCC on that principle. Her career, as well as her propensity to give back, have their roots in her time as a student at LBCC. As a graduate of Wilson high school, Sadler’s friends convinced her to attend LBCC. “It was a great 2 years. I joined [service and social clubs] TNT, AWS, and KASAI, and was part of the ASB. I planned events, learned public speaking, and gained confidence in myself.” After receiving her BA in Journalism, Public Relations/English Literature from Cal State Long Beach, C.C. did a brief stint in corporate America before coming back to LBCC to redefine herself professionally and learn graphic design. “LBCC has changed my life for the better 3 times. First as a student, then again when I came back, and as a home for me professionally.”
Sadler has worked hard to give back to the place that has meant so much to her. She’s spent more than 26 years with the Long Beach Community College District, beginning as a graphic designer for the LBCC Foundation to serving in her current role as an Educational Technologist, C.C. has done it all. From designing flyers and banners to promote fundraisers for campus programs and scholarships to staying abreast of the latest advancements in educational technology, she always seeks ways in which she can help LBCC’s faculty better engage and support our students. Sadler has found a place for herself that gives her the ability to give back to her colleagues and the college, and LBCC is better for it.
