Transition Age College Bound Youth Educational & Financial Resources
The CSULB Guardian Scholars Program assists current/former foster youth in their educational pursuits by offering services such as academic counseling, financial aid advising, tutoring, mentorship, skills assessment, and math and writing labs throughout their academic career.
LBCC EOPS AND NEXTUP
Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) supports low-income, educationally disadvantaged students in their community college journey. EOPS provides students with support such as priority registration, individualized counseling, book assistance, school supplies, and transfer application fee waivers. Students receive academic, emotional, and financial support to succeed in their academic endeavors.
The NextUp Program serves current and former foster youth in EOPS by creating a network of support to help students achieve their educational, career, and personal goals. Students receive individualized counseling, financial support, book assistance, school supplies, transportation assistance, specialized gatherings on topics such as life skills, academic success, job search, and financial aid/scholarships, and resources for food, housing, and mental health. We aim to create a community of engagement and inclusion for students to reach their full potential and complete their goals.
