2023 Fall Sports Preview
The Long Beach City College Vikings finished our 2022-23 with a bang and look to keep the momentum in 2023-24, beginning with the Fall Sports. Long Beach made its mark in the California Community College Athletics Association last year by earning four conference championships, six state appearances, one individual state final appearance, five coach of the year awards, and five conference most valuable player awards.
Football
The Vikings closed out the 2022 season with a 5-6 overall record and were fourth in the National Northern Conference with a 2-3 mark. They are looking to come back in the 2023 season with their first home game against Riverside Community College on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium. View the entire schedule here.
Cross Country
Last season the women’s team qualified for the state championships, while two athletes from the men’s side also individually qualified. This year the teams open their season on Sept. 1 at the Moorpark Invite at Arroyo Vista Park at 10 a.m. Visit the remainder of the cross-country schedule here.
Women’s Soccer
The Vikings are coming off their first South Coast Conference Championship since 2005 and a third-round playoff finish. The women’s soccer team is ready to bounce back into action with their first home game on Friday, Sept. 1 against Mt. San Jacinto at 5 p.m. Visit the rest of their schedule here.
Men’s Soccer
The Vikings are returning to the field after placing third in the South Coast Conference and signing eight athletes to the next level. Men’s soccer will host San Diego City College in their first game on Friday, August 25 at 4 p.m. Visit the rest of the men’s soccer schedule here.
Women’s Water Polo
The Vikings took home their seventh consecutive conference title this past season and extended their conference winning streak to 65 in a row. The Vikings ended their season by placing fourth in the SoCal Regionals and are aiming to come back stronger than ever in the 2023 season. Men’s Water Polo
Men’s water polo finished their 2022 season with a fifth straight conference title and a third-place finish in the SoCal Regionals. The Vikings will be back in action on Sept. 1 at the West Valley Invitational. Visit the entire men’s water polo schedule here.
