Quality Focus Essay
The newest component of the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) is the Quality Focus Essay (QFE). The QFE asks the institution to reflect on 2 or 3 large scale, long-term projects that will have a direct impact on student success, achievement, and/or outcomes. The QFE must be no longer than 4,000 words, be rooted in data provided in the ISER, and emerge from the self-evaluation of the institution. Ideas for projects have been gleaned from the accreditation standards committees and the Academic and Classified Senates, as well as from the student body through survey feedback. Each project will include measurable outcomes, the resources needed to accomplish the project, and the timeline for completion, as well as identify the responsible stakeholders and/or committees.
The ACCJC visiting team will evaluate the QFE, but the Commission will not use the QFE as a factor in making its determination for the College’s accreditation. During the midterm report, the Commission will follow-up on the progress the College has made toward achieving the QFE projects.
