Enrollment at Long Beach City College (LBCC) provides you with specific transfer benefits. LBCC has several agreements between the college and universities that provide assurance that you will be admitted to the specific university when the conditions of the agreement have been met.
University of California (UC)
Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)
Six University of California (UC) campuses offer guaranteed admission to students from all California community colleges (CCCs). Those six campuses are UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz. Interested students must meet campus-specific requirements to qualify for a UC TAG. By participating in a TAG program, students can ensure their admission to a specific UC campus, some of which offer an early review of a student’s academic record, early admission notification, and specific guidance on major preparation and general education coursework.
California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)
CSULB provides the highest admission consideration to LBCC transfer students based on their high school of graduation. This special relationship between CSULB and LBCC is called “Local Preference” and is also extended to LBCC military veterans regardless of their school of origin.
Local admission area school districts can be found on the CSULB Local Preference website. An exception is made for “Highly Impacted” majors. All CSULB undergraduate majors continue to be “impacted.” An undergraduate major or campus is designated as impacted when there are more eligible applicants than there are available spaces. Impacted majors or campuses are authorized to use supplementary admissions criteria to screen applicants.
