The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. Doctors have been forced to make difficult decisions about who receives blood transfusions and who will need to wait until more becomes available. Blood and platelet donations are critically needed to help prevent further delays in vital medical treatments.

In partnership with Mayor Robert Garcia and CSULB, Long Beach City College proudly sponsored the American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, January 19. In addition to providing life-saving measures for those in need, The Long Beach City College Foundation & Alumni Association will receive $500.00 for each person who mentioned Long Beach City College during their donation. Many thanks to our anonymous Viking alumnus for their generous incentive donation. We are excited to provide an update in the coming weeks with the donation total.

The Long Beach City College Foundation provides resources to enhance the College’s role as a community innovator and leader. Committed to the betterment of the City of Long Beach, the Foundation recognizes that health and safety are paramount to an equitable and dynamic society; and are committed to supporting through authentic and actionable change.

The event was an incredible success; all appointments were quickly filled. If you would like to make a donation to the LBCC Foundation, click here to support our Vikings!
