Study Skills Courses

The Learning and Academic Resources Department offers a variety of learning skills and basic adult education courses.

LEARN courses assist you develop study skills and strategies for academic success.

BAE courses can help you adjust to college while you prepare for the workplace and college-level work around your busy schedule.

LEARN 11: Learning & Academic Strategies (3 units)

  • Face-to-face and online
  • Practice learning skills through lecture, discussions, and activities
  • Transferable to the CSU system; Fulfills Area E (Lifelong Learning) general education on Plan B
  • Transferable to the UC system

LEARN 11H: Learning & Academic Strategies for Honors (3 units)

  • Face-to-face honors course typically offered in the Fall semester 
  • Analyze and demonstrate learning skills in other honors courses
  • Apply learning skills and strategies to form a personalized study plan

LEARN 811: Introduction to Study Skills (1 unit)

  • Face-to-face introductory learning skills class
  • Learn and apply basic study skills

BAE 601A: Basic Skills Development I (0 units)

  • Non-credit course in lab setting
  • Acquire knowledge and skills for college and career
  • Self-paced, flexible, open-entry/exit course
  • Develop reading, writing, math, college, and career skills
  • Prepare for credit courses and programs
  • Prepare for exams and certifications
