COVID 19 – Guidelines on Masks and Vaccinations
In alignment with current City of Long Beach Health Department and the LA County Health Department and guidance, for this in-person outdoor commencement ceremony taking place on June 9, 2022, we will encourage guests and attendees to wear masks regardless of vaccine status, this includes individuals at higher risk of severe illness if they cannot maintain distance from others (California Department of Health). There will be no screening tables checking vaccination status at this event.
LA County Dept. of Health
- Masks are strongly recommended in crowded outdoor settings for people at high risk of severe illness, or who live with someone who is at high risk. Masks that provide the best protection against COVID-19 should be worn. Examples include a well-fitting respirator (e.g., N95, KN95) or a double mask (a well-fitting cloth mask over a medical mask) (Los Angeles County Public Health Department).
Long Beach City College supports the City of Long Beach in continuing to encourage our eligible community members, families and guests to get fully vaccinated as it has been shown to reduce the likelihood of new variants emerging, prevents future surges, and avoids overwhelming the health care delivery system (City of Long Beach).
