Commencement

Donning the cap and gown, crossing the stage, and turning the tassel: These are the traditions of a formal commencement ceremony that marks a milestone achieved and a new beginning. For nearly a century, Long Beach City College students have crossed this threshold to celebrate all they have accomplished as they leave the College armed with the education, training, and foundation to forge the future. Each year, LBCC welcomes thousands of students, faculty, staff, family members and friends to Veterans Stadium for the commencement ceremony. Event details are provided below to ensure all enjoy this momentous occasion.

Check-In

Students should plan to check-in at 3:30 pm with rehearsal starting promptly at 4:00 pm. When you arrive, please visit the check-in booth, located at the baseball field across from Veterans Stadium.

Graduate Name Cards

At check-in for Commencement, you will be given a graduate name card to fill out that will be used to announce your name during the ceremony. If your name is difficult to pronounce, write it phonetically. For example, if your last name is Fylpaa, write on your name card “FILL-PAW.” Please print neatly. Provide email, phone number, and address if you are interested in viewing and/or purchasing graduation photographs.
