Straw Factory
Straw Factory is the business incubator of the Long Beach City College Jewelry Entrepreneurship Program where students pool resources and support each other’s professional goals. Jewelry and metalwork students regularly start their own businesses after interning with local artists. Partnering with local institutions and the Small Business Development Center they learn not only the practice of art-making, but also the profession of being an artist. Together they manage entrepreneurial collaborations while learning the mechanics of business. The Straw Factory website is a real-time teaching tool to help students learn critical professional skills.
To say it another way, students learn to spin straw into gold.
