Who is eligible for the two years free at LBCC?

Starting with the graduating class of Spring 2019, LBUSD graduates who enroll at LBCC the fall immediately following graduation will be eligible for two free years. Students should demonstrate satisfactory academic progress each term.

Are other school districts eligible for the two years free?

At this time, only Long Beach Unified School District students are eligible for two years free at LBCC. In conjunction with the original Long Beach College Promise, high school graduates from St. Anthony’s, St. Joseph’s, and Mayfair High School receive the first year free at LBCC. All students must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress each term in order to progress with free tuition.

When does the two free years at LBCC for LBUSD graduates begin?

Fall of 2019

How do I sign up for the two years free?

If you are a Long Beach Unified School District student, you do not have to take any further action once you enroll at Long Beach City College the fall after you graduate from high school. The LBCC system will automatically flag you as an LBUSD graduate.  St. Anthony’s, St. Joseph’s, and Mayfair high school graduates are also flagged once they enroll to receive the first year free.

My LBUSD student graduated early. Can my student still qualify for the free two years if they are starting in Spring 2019 at LBCC?

The two years free will start in Fall 2019. A student who enrolls in Spring 2019 will not qualify for the two years free.
