Randy Gordon
Local Business Community Representative
Randy Gordon was named President/CEO of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in April 1994. As President and CEO, Gordon is responsible for providing the leadership, direction and administration for all aspects of the Chamber’s activities. The Long Beach Chamber is a membership organization of over 1,000 businesses committed to continual improvement of the community, economy and the quality of life in the greater Long Beach region. Prior to his position at Long Beach, he was CEO of the Covina, CA Chamber for 12 years.
Gordon is a past-Chairman of the Board for the Western Association Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.) and hold the distinction as an Accredited Chamber Executive (ACE). He was the recipient of the W.A.C.E. Executive of the Yearaward in 1995, and the 2001 Russell E. Pettit Memorial “Excellence In Leadership” award. Gordon is the Past President of Southern California Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, a long time board member of the Association of Chamber of Executives (ACCE) and serves as Chairman of the Metro Cities Council for two years. He is a CCE (Certified Chamber Executive) distinction from ACCE, only of only 400 executives in the association’s history. He currently is the Chairman of ACCE’s FBI (Fringe Benefits Inc.).
He is a 1988 graduate of the U.S. Chamber Western Institute for Organization Management at San Jose State University, former instructor at the Stanford and Loyola University Institute, a past member of the Board of Regents of Western Institute, a 1993 graduate from the U.S. Chamber’s Academy at Notre Dame, a past trustee for the National Board of the Institute. He is current member of the U.S. Chamber’s Committee of 100, a past Chairman of the California Chamber of Commerce Advisory Committee, and is a past board member on the California Chamber’s Board of Directors.
Gordon is very involved in his community serving on numerous boards which currently includes; the YMCA, the California Conference for Equality and Justice, Board of Trustees for St. Mary Medical Center, the Long Beach City College Foundation Board of Governors, California State University of Long Beach Advisory Board for the School of Engineering, the Long Beach Grand Prix foundation Board and Past-Chairman of the Miller Children’s Hospital Advisory Board. He is currently the President of the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House and was the original Treasurer who was very instrumental in helping the Board raise 6.2 million dollars to build the house in 2011.
He is a 1995 graduate of Leadership Long Beach. He is past president of the 330 member Rotary Club of Long Beach and has 34 years of perfect attendance.
Gordon enjoys donating his time to dozens of non-profit organizations as their live auctioneer, or Master-of-Ceremonies, at their fundraising events each year in Long Beach.
Personally, he is a 1973 graduate of California State University, Fullerton. He is married to Nancy Becker; they have three grown sons, one daughter, four grandsons and two granddaughters whose ages are 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4!
