APID Heritage Month Kick-Off

The Kick-Off event is designed to open the month’s festivities/activities by bringing the campus community together in a celebratory fashion to enjoy food, music, entertainment, and curated resources.

APID-HM x Basic Needs Food Donation Drive

Date/Time: (Accepting Donations) May 1 – May 31
Location: You can donate products to the following locations

• LAC Viking Vault (B-103) Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
• TTC Viking Vault (GG-Cafeteria) Tuesday – Thursday 9am-5pm
• For large donations, please contact Mei Louie at mlouie@lbcc.edu to coordinate a drop off day and time

In the celebration of APID-Heritage Month, the Basic Needs program is inviting students, faculty, staff, and community members to collect and distribute culturally relevant food to honor APID (Asian Pacific Islander Desi) Heritage Month (HM) at LBCC. Basic Needs aims to create more access to APID ingredients to those visiting the Viking Vault through this food donation drive. Donations received will be distributed throughout the month in the Viking Vault for enrolled students. Full details and donation suggestions can be found here.

Know Your Rights, Right Now!

Join us for a roundtable discussion exploring how we can better support our migrant and immigrant APID communities. MANA Idol

Date/Time: Thursday, May 8, 5pm – 7pm
Location: LAC, B-206A (SJIC)

Coordinated by the SJIC & Mana Program

Students, staff, and faculty will have the opportunity to participate in a friendly karaoke competition, either performing a song of their choice or singing just for fun! At the end of the event, those who wish to compete for a spot on the MANA Idol Trophy will be judged by an audience applause meter. Click here for more details.
