We celebrate Latina/o/x Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Latina/o/x Americans who have inspired others to achieve success. Join LBCC in celebrating the Latina/o/x culture through a series of wonderful events all throughout the month of September and October. All virtual events will either be hosted through Zoom or presented through our official Long Beach City College YouTube channel.

Latina/o/x Heritage Month Kickoff

Location: LAC, A Quad (South of A)

Join us for food, music, student performers, and a special 1-hour concert by a Queen of Tex Mex, Selena impersonator to kick off Latinx Heritage Month! Bring your dancing shoes and sunscreen.


Film Screening of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”

Beyond the Box

What’s in your identity “Box”? Join us for a conversation on how race, ethnicity and class intersect in the work of Dr. Randol Contreras. As an Afro-Latino, he becomes the subject and object of his own work, in a space where both Mexicans and African Americans attempt to understand his Latino Blackness.

Join us and Drag Queen Cerulean Blue Royal as we play “Yo Sabo” to put our bilingual skills to the test, answer Latinx trivia, and win challenges on the Chancla cards!


Keeping it 100

To “Keep It 100″ means to keep it as real as possible, and that is exactly what this panel will be doing. A panel of successful Latino/a/x professionals will be sharing their success stories, how to overcome obstacles, and offer useful tips on navigating spaces that may not have been designed for Latino/a/x people.
