Long Beach City College offers typing tests for students and people in the greater community who need a typing certification for professional or employment purposes. Typing tests are free, and no appointment is necessary. 

Earning a Typing Certificate

To take the typing test, you must provide a valid photo ID and complete a 5-minute timed typing test with 35wpm and five or fewer errors.

Testing Procedures

1. You are entitled to 15 minutes of typing, which is equivalent to three 5-minute exams per day.
2. If you are unable to meet your goal, feel free to return to take the test again.
3. When you have reached your goal, a typing Certificate Card will be filled out, signed by an instructor, and given to you.

NOTE: Typing tests are NOT given during the first two weeks of each semester or when the campus is closed/holidays. Testing times may vary. You can call ahead just to make sure we are open.
