Salomé
Theater Performance
The tale of Salomé features the primary theme of a woman viewed as a spectacle and the “male gaze” in all its forms. From the seductive play of voyeurism, exhibitionism, and the taboos surrounding human desire. Merely gazing upon Salomé is dangerous and is a harbinger for death to those around her. As John the Baptist captures her illicit gaze, he awakens her lethal desire and subsequently captures the fascination of Herod’s by her performance of the Dance of the Seven Veils. The image of Salomé dancing and her seductive ways brings death to the prophet and in the end, herself.
The show will be running from May 24-26 and May 31 – June 2 at 7:30 pm. Additional showings are also scheduled on May 27 and June 3 at 2:00 pm. Performances will be held on the LAC Campus in the LBCC Studio Theater, Building H.
