Ben Peschek
Assistant Professor, Psychology
Hi! My name is Benjamin Peschek, and I’ve been teaching Psychology at Long Beach City College since 2012, as well as in the Psychology and Sociology departments at CSUDH and CSULB. I am a product of the community college system and graduate of the Master’s in Psychological Research program at CSULB. Over the years, I have taught a variety of courses related to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods. I’m also one of the faculty advisors for the LBCC Psych Club, so if you’re interested in joining, feel free to reach out to us at Viking Engagement.
I’ve had many character-building jobs throughout my life, but genuinely love teaching. I feel invigorated getting to know students, hearing about their goals and experiences, and being part of such a transformative time in people’s lives as it was for me. I enjoy supporting students pursuing interesting research projects and sparking that love of discovery. In the classroom, I use OER materials, teach through games and activities, and have a passion for utilizing humor to the thunderous silence of students.
Outside the classroom, I’m a Tolkien/Lord of the Rings nerd, lifelong gamer, adventure cyclist, kayaker, and outdoors enthusiast. But I most love spending time with my family and three kids, who are a handful…of joy.
