Kirsten Moreno
Professor of English
Adult Learner Coordinator
I have had the privilege of teaching composition and literature courses at Long Beach City College for the past 24 years. I enjoy teaching writing and literature courses because they provide us with the opportunity to explore diverse voices, perspectives, cultures, and experiences while making meaningful connections between the literature and our own lives.
In addition to teaching English, I serve as the Accelerate Program and Adult Learner Coordinator, where I assist students in completing their Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) in Psychology or Communication Studies online in two years or less. It’s amazing to support adult learners as they navigate college, balance multiple responsibilities, and work toward degree completion and transfer.
Most recently, I served as a mentor in LBCC’s Faculty Diversity Mentorship Program, collaborating with interns interested in pursuing careers as English faculty to serve our students.
Lastly, as a former LBCC student myself, I am especially proud to be part of the Viking community and to support students as they work toward achieving their academic and professional goals. Go, Vikings!
