Nursing is both science and art, requiring specialized training and education to save lives, improve health and ease suffering. The Nursing Department is one of California’s premier programs preparing students for well-paying careers in high demand as registered nurses (RN) or licensed vocational nurses (VN). Resources include a 2,600-square-foot practical skills lab with state-of-the-art equipment that replicates a hospital environment.
RN students can earn an Associate of Science degree, while VN students can earn an Associate of Science degree or a certificate of achievement. The department also offers the Career Ladder Nursing Program for licensed vocational nurses to become a registered nurse. All programs include courses preparing students for the national licensing exam or transfer to a four-year institution. Additionally, the VN program offers home health aide and nursing assistant certificates.
